The Lynn Farmer's Market
If you saw our “How to Eat Seasonally” blog post, you will know about the benefits of eating seasonal produce. If you need a good place to get some fresh seasonal produce, the farmers market at central square in Lynn is a great place to go. There are multiple vendors who have been serving Lynn for many years and have reliable locally sourced organic produce, they accept WIC, SNAP, HIP, and senior coupons, there’s live music, free samples, and there can be other events happening as well. Recently, I went around the market and asked vendors what they like about the market.
“People can obtain fresh and local food for an affordable price,” says Andy, a youth worker at the Food Project Stand. “The market is a great place because it’s important to know where food comes from, who’s growing it, and making connections with those people.”
Nyles, a farm manager at The Food Project adds, “It’s great to see recurring customers at the market, and I love seeing the youth at the Food Project interact with the community members.”
Michelle, the community engagement manager at RAW Arts says her favorite thing about the market is “being there, spending time with the kids, seeing people gather, seeing the unity, food, people, music and knowing that at least for tonight, they won't go hungry.”
To reap all the benefits of the market, come to central square on Thursdays between 10 and 3! There’s tons of produce from cucumbers to kale, and more will become available as the summer continues!
