WIC: Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Children, and Infants
What is WIC?
WIC is a federal supplemental nutrition program for women, infants and children.
This program aims to improve health outcomes by ensuring the participants have access to nutritious foods.
It also provides nutrition education, access to health screenings, breastfeeding counseling, and more!
Eligibility Criteria:
Pregnant Women
Postpartum Women (up to 6 months after giving birth)
Breastfeeding Women (up to 1 year after giving birth)
Infants
Children (up to age 5)
Mothers, fathers, grandparents, foster parents, or other legal guardians can apply for WIC on behalf of their children.
Residency, income, and level of nutritional risk will be assessed. However, marital status and employment status are not required for the application process.
WIC provides a wide range of food benefits including:

Baby Foods
Fruits

Cheese
Yogurt
Tofu
Peanut Butter
Canned Fish
Soy-Based Beverages
Whole-Grain Products
Iron-Fortified Adult Cereal
Dried/Canned Beans & Peas
Iron Fortified Infant Formula
Vitamin C Rich Fruit/Vegetable Juice
How To Apply:
Contact the WIC state or local agency in your community to make an appointment.
This appointment will help determine your eligibility.
Typically, an individual will receive benefits from 6 months to one year, however, you are able to reapply!
